I am finishing up a degree in English when I am not chasing down my new baby girl. Being a member of the editorial staff of the River Bluff Review has been a real pleasure. Reading each submission was a privilege and made me a better writer—thank you.

I’m currently a senior majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Creative Writing. I’ve always loved any opportunity to read, write, or edit pieces of literature as I’ve been writing since I could turn on a computer. I probably have enough books to fill up my car (and then some), but I’ll never deny the chance to go into a bookstore. As an RBR editor, I’m confident readers will enjoy and see the fruits of our labor through this fantastic issue!

I am a senior graduating from SIUE with a degree in Integrative Studies with a focus in Biology and Chemistry. For my senior year, I chose to be part of the River Bluff Review as an opportunity to explore other areas of interest and found joy through exploring creative writing. Although I find purpose in the science disciplines, I found inspiration from reading the creative works of the submitters and contributors to this year’s edition of the River Bluff Review. This has motivated me to reexplore my passions for literature outside of academia. I am grateful for the experience this has given me in publishing and thank each person who submitted work this year for helping me discover my love creativity through their art.

I write poetry and slipstream fiction, and always strive to sprinkle just enough “aboutness” into my work.  When I am not writing or providing technical support to my family, I enjoy playing video games and creating digital art. I would like to thank my friends, family, professors, the buildings on campus, and Douglas Adams for their inspiration.

My passion in life has always been in writing and storytelling, a passion that was sparked at an early age (1st grade) when a few kind teachers took the time to read a story I wrote about a bunny family for the language arts festival at school. The excitement that followed seeing the big blue ribbon and being selected to go to the young author’s conference never faded away. My hope is that the students who were selected for this year’s issue in RBR experience that same excitement and continue to create amazing pieces to share with the world!

I am a Psychology major with a minor in Creative Writing. Despite my major, I'd like you to know I definitely can't read minds. After college, I'd like to go onto grad school and work in the field of Clinical Child Psychology. I would also love to travel the world, as well as continue writing and learning. In my free time, you can find me reading, writing, and daydreaming. Thank you to everyone who submitted to this year's RBR! This was such a wonderful experience to be a part of. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

I am a senior English major, and I am graduating this December. I spend most of my free time drinking tea and getting lost in a book. I currently in the process of applying to graduate programs to further my education. I plan on moving to New York either for school or to begin a career in the field I love. I have very much enjoyed being a part of this year’s RBR editorial team and am thankful for the experience I gained from this project.

I am a senior studying English and Creative Writing. My goals after college are to get recognized as a fantasy author, own my own place, visit Japan, and have many happy pets. I spend my free time playing video games, sculpting, singing, and watching YouTube videos like the sun will not rise the next day. Working on this journal has been a highlight of my semester. I believe that everyone can find something to enjoy in our 2021 issue of the River Bluff Review.

I am a senior majoring in both English and Mass Communications. I am a lover of fairytales, folklore, and mythologies! Anything that is animated, I make plans to watch, analyze, and enjoy. I think that they are a great study of methods when it comes to storytelling. I believe that if you have to do work, do something that brings you joy.

My hobbies outside of school consist of video games, anime, and Dungeons and Dragons. As my girlfriend, friends, and family put it: I am a massive nerd, so don’t be afraid to see my name among the editors.

Hello! My name is Ethan, and I am a Theatre Performance major and Creative Writing minor. It was so much fun to be a part of the 2021 River Bluff Review editing staff. The short stories, videos, poems, art pieces, and plays we received exceeded even my wildest dreams concerning the creative mastery of SIUE’s students. There was beauty and intrigue to be found in every piece that was submitted, and it was awesome to see how many talented writers I share this campus with. I want to thank Professor Vogrin, all the editors, and every single person who sent in a piece to the River Bluff Review for making this class truly extraordinary.
