The Dream of Delusion

A foggy illusion on my Saturday morning,

where I temporarily forget the hurt you caused,

your deceit and lies were an ignored warning.

The piece of my heart you stole and used for your benefit,

something I know I’ll never be the same without,

forgotten in a foggy illusion on my Saturday morning.

I dreamt that you didn’t hurt me, but held me,

and told me that you would do better, for me,

your deceit and lies were an ignored warning.

But it’s a figment formed from my broken mind,

a man who you could never be,

a foggy illusion on my Saturday morning.

A lover turned stranger who found a new naive woman -

leaving me behind in this wake of heartache,

your deceit and lies were an ignored warning.

A man who hurts women at their expense,

only to find someone prettier -

or closer -

or more loving -

or good enough, for you.

All you are to me now is a foggy illusion on my Saturday morning,

your deceit and lies were an ignored warning.
